I’ve been up in Seattle staying with a friend, and we ended up getting rather inebriated last night. Upon waking up, I promptly drank 4 pints of water, and convinced my friend that we had to get to the gym, despite feeling rather ill. My previous night’s revelry was certainly not part of my training. After arriving at the 24 Hour Fitness with a free “family and friends guess pass” in hand, and filling out the guest information, I was told by the manager that I would be unable to workout. It seems that the pass was really only free if you lived within 25 miles of the gym, which I found rather absurd, because if you lived in the area, you would probably have your own gym, thus nullifying the need to visit someone else’s. At any rate, I began to talk to the manager, and mentioned that I was training for an Ironman, and really wanted to keep my training consistent, he relented, and allowed me to work out “just this once.” Well, thank you Mr. Manager Man, for you have indeed done a good thing.
The workout was short and sweet. 25 minutes on the bike on the “French Alps” setting at level 10 of 20 was enough to shake off much of the wooziness that had dogged me just an hour earlier. I was pushing about 155 bpm at the tops of the hills.

It was worth it! Both the drinking and the post drinking workout.
